The idea behind this whole project originally came from IronSky and me. We wanted to build a site or a huge database where every information about the demo is stored, a site which could match the success of the SWD Community Server. Every clan war, every screen shot, video, banner, mod, fan made banner (you name it!) is there. The SW Demo, literally, will be on this site.

The main feature of this site is that it will gather every demo player all in one place, and give them the opportunity, if they are a clan/team leader, to support their clan to the maximum. Of course, to attract more players to our dying demo, we need to have a kickass site. No free site will do for this; we need our own domain name (presumably www.bf1942swdemo.com or www.bf1942swdemo.net).

The site template needs to be professionally made. For this reason, we ask that anyone that is willing to help is with this project contribute financially to help IronSky and me pay the domain name/server on a monthly basis.


Some of the features and general layout we wish to implement on this site are the following:

- An “About Us” page which explains to the general public who we are and what our goals with this community are

- A section made just for demo clans/teams, a place where leaders can advertise for their clans/teams and where we can support them to the fullest

- A section reserved just for SWD Community admins (presumably all clan leaders), where confidential stuff such as hacker busting and other critical matter is discussed there

- A “Tutorial/Help Zone” section where every tutorial, whether it regards server hosting, mod creating or game play tactics, is discussed in details (easy to understand tutorials with pictures so everyone can understand)

- A “Competition” section where clan war, mix war, fun war, private clan war and cup protocols are established clearly. In this section a section called “Clan War” history which documents every demo clan war which happened since 2006, another called “Ask for a CW” where clan leaders can ask for CWs and have it set up in an efficient matter, another section called “Live CW Stream” where the members of the site can view clan wars as they happen (spectator view). Another section in that “Competition” section called “Clan-Based Ladder”. Basically a small ladder for about 8 demo clans, where CW protocols apply strictly (more about these protocols later). Another section called “Team-Based Ladder”. This ladder will serve exclusively for demo cups and tournaments. Only teams will be able to register, and there can be way more than 8. In that “Team-Based Ladder” section, a “Cup” section containing the following sections: “Cup History”: a place where every tournament/cup that happened on the demo is logged, with photographic/video evidence as much as possible. Another section in the “Cup” section called “Planned Cups”: a place where site members can register for upcoming cups, choose what maps they want, what game mode, etc. And, finally, a third section in that “Cup” section called “Running Cups”: all the cups that are currently happening in the demo, with updates on which teams are leading, leader score boards, etc.

- A “Media” section which contains the following sections in it: “File Downloads”: basically a database of every program, tool, mod or any type of application which was built specifically for the demo, and explicit information about those files (pictures, videos, etc). In that “Media” section, a second section called “Screenshots”. This section is broken down into “War Screenshots”, “Mod Screenshots” and “Game Play Screenshots”. A third section in the “Media” section where all demo videos are stored. The categories for the videos (sections) are the following: “Frag Highlights” movies (and protocols on how to make them), “Cup Highlights” movies (with protocols as well), “Mod Promo” videos (protocols too) and “Tutorial” videos (on any subject SW Demo related)

- A lobby where players can browse the Internet servers without going in-game

- A “Member” section where every member that signed up to the site is put in a giant table where you can see his/her Xfire, Age, Location, Favorite Kit/Weapon, Clan/Team, Demo Experience, etc…

- A “Suggestions” section where guests can submit their complaints/opinions about the site

- A “Sponsors” section, where all our partners/affiliates can be seen (mostly other demo communities, but also FragNet and BlackBagOps)

- A “Donate” section where the site admins (clan leaders) can contribute financially to the site and server

- A “Server” page, containing the following section “Server Info”: a page containing the server settings and any other information such as server rules, and another section in “Server” called “Server Stats”. Basically a page where a player can see his/her K/D ratio, his Kills Per Rounds, etc…

That’s it for now for the site sections. I will explain each section individually later when I get the chance. Tell me what you guys think, and give me constructive criticism please.

BM: Good idea, but first for having a domain you need money. Tell us how much it is required ( per month, year, anything ) and I can help with donations and maybe some other players will do that as well.

Idea is great, but that site really needs to be big. ( Bigger than ESS, which is now dead meat. )

I'd like to help, i dont know much about HTML language, but i'll do what i can. Gather information, get videos, pictures, info, anything will be good

@BM, do we HAVE to donate? I mean, I wouldn't want a game to be so like serious and stuff. Like I don't believe Ironsky pays the server every 4 months. For a demo.

Looks fair enough, does buying the ''premium'' package get rid of the host name in the URL? I am willing to contribute financially if needed. As soon as I find a job I will do so.

I will tell you how to organize each page as well.

As I understood, you can pick your own domain with the "premium" pack.
