my SWD does not start. Don't know why but i figured someone might know a solution before I gave up on demo completely.

What happens:
- I double dick on the bf1942.exe as usual. I get a brief working symbol from my mouse but then nothing happens. I have checked the processes and the exe file does not run.

What I have Tried:
- Capability Mode
- Run As Admin
- Uninstall then Re-install

Look if your windows has updated .
Maybe the update has put the program in the blocklist.

Nope, All inbound and outbound rules are set to allow, that wouldn't stop it from launching anyway, just joining servers. Any other suggestions?

Apparently your exe file is no longer recognized correctly in the registry.
If this is the case you have to remove it's keys from the registry.
Since i do not know what version of windows you got i cant say if there is a program to remove it, otherwise you have to remove them manually.

I have windows 7 and I don't believe that is right. Inside the registry for SWD there is just a game directory and one default code. The Default code has no value. Here is a pic

you really believe w7 registry only has 1 key for BF hahahahahahaha.
That would be new.

Update video drivers. Then try, might work. Hmm, Try uninstalling Nvidia drivers and use window drivers.

Try doing this :

Go to the settings folders here:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings

Open this file using wordpad or notepad, "videodefault.con" and check this line;

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

It should say 1 not 0.

Then open this file, "video.con", if it refers you to a custom profile then go to that folder (eg: run Profiles/Custom/Video.con) then go to this folder etc;

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom

and edit this line to read something like below;

game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32 60

restart game and test.

I have found 25 key's in my registry so uuuhm.........
But you can try asad's option as well even though i don't think it's the videodriver.
The game didn't change and unless he downloaded new drivers his card also didn't change.
But trying it doesn't hurt
Do make a backup of your current drivers before you do an update

Um wipe out ur entire hardrive and reinstall it it worked out for me.

@supernoob - I imagine many of the keys are created on first run.. but the game has never run so they have not been created.

@asad - I don't have nvidia drivers as I do not have a nvidia graphics card. That wouldn't cause it though as it worked fine and no video drivers changed from when it worked to when it did not work.

Try CCleaner, and if that won't work, purge the windows installer package.

Works for me.

Many other people are having problems running bf1942 on Windows 7 64 bit google and try....

If you have two pc's install WinXp on one bcz its a kind of issue of bf1942 not running in w7.

Dunno how to help but you can try launch game in Xfire:P But if it's your actual game that's not working then...

@Asad I got BF working on w7 without any problems and so does a friend of mine.

yeah me 2!

i just have problems with widescreen..

i can´t put it higher than 1280x720
and my desktop runs with 1900x1080

It worked just fine for me for along time, so it is not windows 7 64bit problem. Besides windows 7 is alot better than vista for capability. And I have googled it, but ahwell, A perfect excuse to go bf2 exclusive I guess.

@DJ - I could run it easy at 1600x900 so that is kind of weird
